As we approach the end of the year, I would like to take a moment to reflect with appreciation on the vitality and commitment of our community, and to share an important milestone in our collective journey.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the upcoming CIGRE Paris Session 2026, which will take place from 23 to 28 August 2026. As CIGRE’s flagship global event, the Paris Session has long served as a unique forum for collaborative knowledge development and the exchange of power system expertise. Every two years, it brings together an exceptional assembly of international specialists, practitioners, and decision-makers who contribute, throughout the CIGRE cycle, to advancing our industry.

The early indicators for the 2026 Session are particularly encouraging. We have received 2,400 abstracts, reflecting a very high level of engagement from across the global community and underscoring the relevance of the technical and strategic challenges we are addressing together. The strong number of accepted papers points to a Session characterised by in-depth experience sharing, high technical quality, and innovation, in the context of the profound transformations associated with the global energy transition.

Beyond the technical programme, the Paris Session remains a unique, interactive platform where ideas are exchanged, perspectives are challenged, and shared understanding is built to help shape the future of power systems.

As preparations progress, I invite you to remain engaged and to follow the forthcoming announcements. Your continued involvement—as contributors, delegates, or exhibitors—is central to the strength and impact of the Paris Session and to the vitality of the CIGRE community as a whole.

At this time of year, I would also like to extend my Season’s Greetings to all of you. May the coming year bring you good health, professional fulfilment, and renewed inspiration. I look forward to welcoming you to Paris in August 2026 for what already promises to be a memorable and rewarding Session.

With my very best wishes,

Konstantin O. Papailiou
President of CIGRE
