The Paris Session – CIGRE’s Flagship Global Event

Every two years, CIGRE delivers the world’s foremost collaborative knowledge development and sharing programme for the power system sector. Through extensive remote collaboration and periodic face-to-face events, experts from around the globe contribute to advancing the industry. This unique programme culminates in the Paris Session – the leading international gathering for power system expertise.

Held in Paris in even-numbered years, the Session attracts around 9,000 participants from more than 100 countries, including over 3,600 international experts and decision-makers. Over the course of a week, delegates take part in:

  • 160+ working meetings

  • 30+ Study Committee sessions

  • 800+ technical papers covering the full breadth of the power system

It is a one-of-a-kind interactive platform to exchange knowledge, debate challenges, and shape the future of energy.

Round tables and workshops highlight the latest industry trends and innovations, providing space for discussion and debate among experts.

These unique sessions turn delegates into active contributors. Before the Session, Special Reporters review the 800+ papers and develop key questions for discussion. During the meetings, selected contributors share their perspectives and experiences, enriching the dialogue. Insights are captured in Daily Reports, which guide the work of CIGRE Study Committees and Working Groups over the next two years.

Authors of the Session’s technical papers present their work in interactive Poster Sessions, offering delegates the chance to engage directly with experts in their fields.

Each of CIGRE’s 16 Study Committees hosts a tutorial on a strategic subject area, giving participants targeted opportunities to build their expertise.

Up to seven workshops are organised during the Session, focusing on the most pressing global power system issues.

Alongside the knowledge programme, more than 300 international companies, technology leaders and service providers showcase the latest innovations, products and services in a large-scale exhibition at the Palais des Congrès.

The Session is also a powerful networking forum. Delegates meet industry leaders, reconnect with peers, and build new professional relationships across the global community.

Throughout the event, CIGRE TV broadcasts interviews and discussions, keeping delegates connected to the latest insights and perspectives.
