When and where will the Session 2021 take place?

The Session 2021 will take place from August 20 to August 25, 2021.

This year, the Session will be organised in a hybrid format, the event will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Paris located at 2 Place De La Porte Maillot, 75853 Paris, France. At the same time it will be live streamed for those who can’t attend physically.

Why is the Session organised in a hybrid format this year ? What does it mean exactly?

Due to COVID-19 many countries are restricting international travels and many of our delegates might not be able to attend physically the Session in Paris. In order to not deprive them from this Centennial Session the event will take place as usual at the Palais des Congrès in Paris for those who can attend but it will also be live streamed for the delegates who couldn’t be present in Paris.

The novelty this year, while registering for the Session, you will get to choose either an on-site face to face participation in Paris OR a remote participation. You may change your participation mode until July 31st, this way everyone can get to attend the Centennial Session.

What is the difference between the 2020 e-Session and the 2021 Session?

The 2020 e-Session was based on the paper presentations by the authors, which normally is not the case in a CIGRE Session. This was made to recognize the efforts of the authors who provided their papers.

The 2021 Session will be based on the contributions provided by contributors during the Group Discussion Meetings in response to the Special Reports questions, as in a normal Paris Session.

The 2021 content will be completely different from the 2020 content, with new tutorials and new workshops and panels, as indicated here: https://session.cigre.org/general-programme.

What will be the participation fees for the hybrid Session 2021?

Prices to register for a face to face or a virtual participation are the same. We intend that the quality, breadth, and depth of content will not differ among options. It is acknowledged that online participation does not offer the same networking opportunities as in-person delegates can enjoy, but online participation does not require the costs of travel or accommodation.

An extensive look at comparable industry events, both in-person and virtual, reassure leadership that our Session pricing is appropriate, offering delegates good value.

If for any reason linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, CIGRE has to organise another virtual e-Session, the registration fees will be the same.

How can I change my participation mode (on-site face to face OR remotely via live video on demand) after registration?

Once your online registration is confirmed you can change your participation mode at any time until July 31st by logging into your private CIGRE account on https://registrations.cigre.org/.

I registered for a face to face participation. What will happen if the on-site Session is cancelled by the French Government?

If the hybrid Session is cancelled by the French Government, two options will be proposed to the delegates who have registered for a face to face participation, and would not want to attend the virtual Session :

  1. Defer your registration to the 2022 Paris Session at no additional cost, or
  2. Cancel your registration and receive a refund, less an administrative fee of € 240 per Delegate and € 140 per companion.

My registration to the 2021 Session is confirmed since last year. What do I have to do?

If CIGRE has received the payment of your registration before December 31st 2020, please log into your CIGRE private account on : https://registrations.cigre.org/ in order to select your participation mode : Face to face or remotely.

I registered last year through my National Committee. How can I choose my participation mode?

All the delegates registered last year through a National Committee have a private CIGRE account. Go to https://registrations.cigre.org/ enter your email address and click on « forgot my password » to reinitialize your password. You will then be able to log into your private account and select your participation mode at the Centennial Session.

Will I get a refund if I cancel my registration to the 2021 Session?
